 Nearest amenities, shops, restaurants, bars
Apart from the local village bar in Corpe, which provides fresh bread and croissants every morning, just a 5 minute drive will take you to the charming town of Lucon. The pleasant town centre offers a nice range of shops and plenty of bars to sit and watch the world go by. There are also good restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, from simple crepes or salads up to gastronomic delights (our favourite is - Au Fil des Saisons). The twice-weekly market is well worth a visit for local specialities, fresh fish and excellent sea-food. On the outskirts of the town you will find a choice of three good supermarkets. Also at just 5 minutes is the pretty riverside town of Mareuil sur Lay, offering further restaurants and bars and a supermarket that opens on Sunday mornings.
 Nearest beaches, bathing, water sports
It takes just 25 minutes to reach the Vendee coast at La Faute sur Mer. This town is renowned for it's vast sandy beaches, stretching uninterrupted for 9 miles, from the point facing La Rochelle up to the town of La Tranche sur Mer. The beaches back onto wild dunes and pine forests with cycle trails and picnic areas. Take the time to explore the quieter access lanes and you will find tranquil spots, even in summer. La Tranche sur Mer offers good water sports facilities, including sailing (tuition lake for beginners), windsurfing, kite-surf, and jet-skis. Surfing enthusiasts usually recommend the lovely beach at Les Conches or the bay at St Nicholas. Nearer to Les Tamaris, there is the lake at Chateau Guibert (6 miles), which has a tiny beach for bathing and access for windsurfers, alongside a children's play area.
Nearest holiday activities and places to visit
Of the many places to visit, we can perhaps give a small selection of the most popular. The tree adventure park Indian Forest at Moutiers les Mauxfaits (15 miles) - suits all levels and ages. The exotic botanical gardens at Le Court D'Aron (10 miles) - stunning lotus flower lake. The Chateau de la Guignardiere - nice grounds, children's treasure trail. The canals of "Green Venice" - plenty of spots where you can take a leisurely punt trip along the shady waterways (from 15 miles). The history theme park of "Le Puy du Fou" - you really need to take a look at their website to get an idea of the immensity and quality of this attraction. The Roman amphitheatre with its chariot races and gladiators would be worth it on it's own, but there is so much else to see that you need to take (at least) a whole day there. Children will love it.
